I tell a story of the little old lady in her car driving along listening to the radio having a lovely time approaching traffic lights at a junction.
The reason I tell it is because there are too many who don’t understand that if you put the sound effect of emergency vehicles in commercials, someone might mistake them for the real thing.
Well, last week it happened. The victim was my massage lady, she was smashed in the back of her car by “the little old lady”. Totally admitting fault, did not see Belle who was stopped. She also suggested that she may have heard a siren.
If she was listening or if she wasn’t, if there was a siren or if there wasn’t, the point remains. IT CAN HAPPEN.
So don’t use them, ever. Disguised or in plain sight. If this could have been proved the liability could be shifted to the radio station broadcasting the commercial. The fight of moving the blame to the client would begin.
