Setting Up for a New Year
New year new template, it’s a great time to reassess your workflow and processes in your daily routine in on your DAW
As we start a new year, think about all your settings in your template, then look at the first tweaks you usually make when you start assembling your commercial spot. If it’s the same every time, adjust the template so you avoid that first step..
(In Avid’s ProTools) the view you open with is the last save point, so zoom in our out till you like it. Add or remove tracks from your view the one you only use when it’s a big session.
Take a look at your directory structure on your system, does it make sense? Do you have to think twice on where your saves go and how to put your files away? The way you label your mastered files? Your protocol should be “key number”- “Client name”. Remember the ONLY unique ID for a commercial is the key number, the rest is irrelevant, to aid the user that’s all.
Make the changes now, only 2 weeks does a habit make.
Adjust as you go with little tweaks, then go ahead and live with what you have.
